Big Bud’s place in #iDoit4mycity history started with music. In 2018, he featured on “For the City,” the opening track on #iDoit4mycity, Vol. 1, released by Go Legit Entertainment. The collaboration connected the platform to a voice already rooted in Gainesville’s hip-hop story.

Seven years later, that relationship came full circle. After the podcast’s introduction episode, Big Bud became its first featured guest for Episode 2, “In Bud We Trust.” The conversation follows his music journey, the highs and lows of life, and the loss of Shorty Roc—his cousin and partner in the rap group Strugglazz.

The result is more than an interview. It is a bridge between two eras of #iDoit4mycity: the original music project and the media platform growing around it. Big Bud helped open the album in 2018, then helped establish the podcast in 2025 by returning to tell the story behind the name, the music, and the city that shaped him.
